(April 16, 1954 - September 4, 2022)
The Reverend Canon Ian Noseworthy passed away peacefully and surrounded by loved ones in Toronto, Ontario. Born in Gander, Newfoundland, Ian was the son of the late Gordon Noseworthy and the late Joan Bishop (nee Bartlett). He leaves to mourn husband Scott Jones, sister Dawn Coveyduck, nieces Susan and Karen Coveyduck, and special pet Bogy. A significant circle of family, friends, colleagues and parishioners remember Ian for his profound faith, his generous nature, his endearing personality and his sense of ‘good fun’.
A graduate of Memorial University (NL) and Trinity College (ON), The Reverend Canon Noseworthy served the parishes of Hermitage and The Church of the Ascension in Newfoundland. In 1983 he became the Associate Priest at St. Thomas’ Church, Huron Street (Toronto). He moved to The Church of the Epiphany (Scarborough) where he was the Incumbent. He took a position at the Diocesan Synod Office supporting social justice ministries with the Community Ministries Board. His heart remained in parish ministry, and he became the Incumbent of The Church of St Jude (Scarborough) where he served until he retired in 2009. After retirement, he was the honourary assistant, chorister and congregant of St Nicholas Church (Birch Cliff) and Interim Priest-in-Charge of St Theadore of Canterbury.
An inveterate traveler, Ian spent much of his life exploring countless parts of the world. He was also an accomplished musician, photographer, stained glass artisan and gardener.
A funeral service will be held at St Nicholas Anglican Church (1512 Kingston Road, Toronto) on Saturday, September 17th at 2:00PM, with Reverend Andrew MacDonald officiating. A reception will be held after the service. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Ian’s name may be made to St Nicholas Anglican Church’s Choral Music Program.
