Irene Kelebay

Born September 28th, 1921 in Rozhnitiv, Western Ukraine.

Passed away peacefully on February 16th, 2018 at the Ivan Franko Home in Toronto, Ontario. Irene was predeceased by devoted husband, Konstantyn and her oldest son, Yarema (Diana). She is survived by her loving son, George and her wonderful grandchildren Alexandra, Katie, Tania and Odessa. Irene came to Canada in 1949 and after many years living in Montreal, spent her last 9 years at the Ivan Franko Home. The nursing staff and caregivers at the home are to be sincerely thanked and acknowledged for their unwavering support and compassion but mainly for treating Irene like family and keeping her in the best possible comfort. A visitation will be held at the Cote Des Neiges Funeral Home (4525 Chemin De La Cote Des Neiges, Montreal, QC.) on Friday, February 23, 2018 from 9:30 am – 11:30 am followed by a Funeral Service at St. Basil The Great Ukrainian Catholic Church (875 rue Provost, Lachine, QC.) at 12:00 pm. Burial at the Notre Dame Des Neiges Cemetery (4601 Coe Des Neiges Rd., Montreal, QC.) to follow. For those who wish, in memory of Irene, donations may be made to the Dr. Yarema Kelebay Scholarship Fund with the Taras Shevchenko Foundation in Winnipeg, MB.
