

With family at his side, “Jimmy” passed away peacefully on Friday, March 28, 2014 at the age of 92. He was predeceased by his wife, Vera. Loving dad and “pops” of Lisa and Alex. Brother of Audrey (Whitby) and the late Frances (B.C.).
James joined the Canadian Army in September of 1939 and began his service with the 48th Highlanders of Canada on the 18th of September, 1936. He was with the Highlanders until September 6th of 1939. He continued to serve with the 48th Highlanders of Canada from January 14, 1949 until June 12, 1976. James ranked as a Private (Piper) and served in action in the United Kingdon, Sicily, Italy, and North West Europe during WWII. After 45 years of service, James retired as Detective Sergeant from the Metropolitan Toronto Police Force. Proud piper with both the 48th Highlanders of Canada and the Metropolitan Toronto Police Pipe Band.
Friends may call the Jerrett Funeral Home, 660 Kennedy Rd., Scarborough on Sunday from 5-8 pm. A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Monday at 11am. Cremation will take place following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation.
