" I met Jim 40 years ago when I became Best friends with his daughter Louise. "Dad" as I called him not long after meeting him, started calling me daughter. Dad use to know exactly what to say to make me laugh. when my daughter was born he made her the most beautiful littlle wooden stool to sit on. Jim (dad) was the kindest and sweetest man I ever had the pleasure of knowing. He will be forever in our hearts"

I worked with Jim a number of years ago at The Canadian Surety Company.  He was a great mentor to anyone who would listen and a wonderful colleague.  I will miss him.

Jim was truly a dear friend and so-very funny. I am so lucky to have had him as my friend for so many years. Miss him.

Jim was a little ahead of me at Lawrence Park.
We weren't in close contact for many years, but one day my wife and I were drving down Yonge St. when I saw Rosemary (who sat in front of me in grade 8) waiting for a bus at Briar Hill. We gave her a lift, and found that she and Jim were a "number". I don't know dates, but after their sojourn in Calgary and their return to Toronto, Jim called on me as a broker, and continued a friendship for many years. Jim was very active in the surety industry, and in the early development of what has become the Surety Association of Canada.
I have kept in touch over the last few years from time to time, particularly through SAA and later in his retirement home.

Jim was a dear friend to my late husband Denny and I dating back to university days. He was a kind and gentle man and I  will always remember him fondly.

Jim was only one year older than my mom, Joan (Hunter) James and we heard so many stories of fun times with the cousins over the years. My children, Nick and Emmy, enjoyed several family dinners with "Uncle Jim" and "Aunt Bessie" when we lived on Cheritan and Glenrose. He was a delightful, gentle man who kept the railroading tradition alive in my memories too. Jim will always be fondly remembered.
