Jenny Penny was a Coady Avenue fixture. I remember her Mom and the family whom I knew before I left my family home at 34 Coady to marry in 1968. Even though my parents moved from that house to Highfield Rd. in 1977, I still remember running into Jenny whenever we came to visit my Mom & Dad, the late Peter and Mary Kuzyk. It does my heart good to see how the 'newbies' in the 'hood have embraced the good, old-time feeling of 'neighbourliness' once more. That's how Coady Ave. was in the 40s, 50s and 60s, a caring, open-door street made up of many nationalities who all managed to get along. In today's world, that's a rare thing.

Bless the remaining Penny family and know please, that your sister and aunt made a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Jenny, the news of your passing has deeply saddened me.  You my dear set a fine example of what it is to be a lady, a loving daughter and devoted sister.   May the gates of Heaven opened wide and the angels greeted you with loving arms after your life's journey.

Jenny Penny was the heart of Coady Ave.– the historian, sharing her stories and watching generations of people come and go; the matchmaker, connecting people to one another; the caregiver, always offering to watch your kids when you need a moment; the neighbourhood watch – keeping an eye on things when you're away; the bylaw officer, letting you know when your walk needs shovelling – but most importantly, a friend to all.  There is a hole in the heart of the Coady Ave. community and we are all saddened by this sudden loss.  Jenny, we'll miss you.

I met Jenny just 10 years ago when I moved into the house next door to her.  She was most welcoming to me and to my extended family and such a delight - I loved her stories about her early life in the heart of downtown Toronto before her move to Coady Ave. We both had tears in our eyes when I left Coady Ave to move into a condo - I never imagined the street without her- she will be missed. Jenny was a very kind-hearted lady. She took care of her mother & father and her two brothers Billy & Fred when they became sick and later died. She was a very devoted daughter and sister. She will be missed by all her siblings and the many people who got to know her. I send my sympathy and condolences to her entire family, especially to my friend Liz whom I have known since childhood. RIP Jenny.
