Joan was born on August 20th, 1948, in Glasgow, Scotland. At just 16 years old, she courageously immigrated to Canada, where she built a beautiful life rooted in hard work, family, and love. That same year, she began a remarkable career as a hairstylist—one she devoted herself to from the age of 16 until 74. For nearly six decades, Joan not only styled hair but formed lasting friendships, offering warmth, laughter, and genuine care to everyone who sat in her chair.
Joan had a deep love for travel and cherished time spent going south and cruising, embracing every opportunity to relax, explore, and enjoy life’s adventures.
She was the beloved wife of Pasquale Ruberto, and a loving and devoted mother to Gennaro (Donna), Amedeo (Tiffany), and Carmela (Larry). Joan was a proud grandmother, and may she now serve as a guardian angel to her cherished grandchildren, Alyssa, Xavier, Niven, and Nevaeh.
She was a beloved sister to Anne Kelly and Ruth Corrigan, and is now reunited in heaven with her parents, Janette and Jocha Robertson, and her siblings, Niven (Bill) and Sheleigh Johnson.
Joan will be forever remembered, deeply loved, and greatly missed by all who knew her.
The family will hold a celebration of life in Belleville at a later date.
If desired, the family kindly requests that donations in memory of Joan Ruberto be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, specifically in support of leukemia research.
