

Joanne Edith Gordon passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 8, 2016, just a month shy of her 89th birthday. Predeceased by her husband William James Gordon, and survived by her children Anne (Colin) Williamson and Bob Gordon and her beloved grandchildren Craig and Karen Williamson and Josh West-Gordon, her brother John Richardson and her sister Phyllis Lamb.
Joanne completed her RN training at Wellesley Hospital in Toronto and graduated with her classmates in 1949. Following the death of her beloved husband Bill in 1966, she returned to hospital nursing to refresh her skills. She obtained her public health designation and worked with the Victoria Order of Nursing and Cassandra Public School before joining what was then called Ontario Hydro.
Joey was an active member of Donminster United Church (now Jubilee) and a member of the choir for many years. She enjoyed travelling, tennis, golf and bridge with her many friends and neighbours. Her monthly lunches with her former classmates were very special times.
After retiring from Ontario Hydro, she volunteered at Ronald MacDonald House and ushered at Roy Thompson Hall. She also loved music of all kinds, opera and was a long-time patron of the Royal Ontario Ballet.
Friends and family are invited to attend a service on Saturday October 15th at 12:00 noon at Jubilee Church, 40 Underhill Dr, Toronto, ON. Interment will take place at Park Lawn Cemetery the following week with immediate family.
