

Died peacefully at the Basilian Fathers Residence (Anglin House) Toronto, ON on October 12, 2012. He was born in Bathurst, NB, the son of Henry and Marie (Comeau) on October 5, 1924. After early schooling in New Brunswick, he entered the Basilian novitiate in 1943, professed in 1944 and ordained to the priesthood in 1951. He studied Modern Languages (St. Michael’s College), Applied Linguistics (Montreal, QC), and Catechetics (London, England). He was involved in the education apostolate at Assumption College School, Windsor, ON, Religious Education programs, Archdiocese of Montreal and the Department of Education, Province of New Brunswick. He was a master teacher and innovator. After retiring from teaching, he did parish ministry in Florida, Texas and Ontario. The retirement years were spent with the Basilian communities in Windsor and Toronto. He is predeceased by his parents, his brothers Gordon, Hector, and Walter, his sisters Mabel, Frances, Yvette, and Albina, and his adopted brother John Coombs. He is survived by his sister Helen and many nieces and nephews. There will be visitation on Tuesday, October 16 at 9 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in the chapel of the Cardinal Flahiff Basilian Centre, 95 St. Joseph Street, Toronto. Burial will be in the Basilian plot at Holy Cross Cemetery, Thornhill, ON.
