

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Jean, and 2 children, Dr Anne Galipeau (Jeff Rosebrugh) and Dr Lynne Galipeau (Gordon Payne). Predeceased by his son-in-law Brian Blumberg. Survived also by his grandchildren Michelle and Robert Blumberg and Maya Rosebrugh. John was the beloved older brother of Joan Enman (John) and Frank (Nancy).
He is also survived by nieces and nephews Dawn Enman, Prof. Suzanne Sheppard (Don), Dr Robert Sheppard, Prof John Sheppard (Andrea), David Pennington (Susan) and Mary Anne Foreman (David).
Also survived by numerous grand nieces and nephews. John was born in Montreal in 1923, an ambitious and determined student. His family later moved to Ottawa where he attended Glebe Collegiate. Following the death of his father when he was 18, he supported his family and worked to afford university tuition.
He graduated from McGill Electrical Engineering in 1956, where he also managed to find the time to play Varsity Basketball.
After graduation, he moved to Toronto to start work as an engineer on the Avro Arrow. He then formed his own company, Dataline, and was a pioneer in the Canadian computing industry.
A lifelong learner, he loved Mathematics and the study of languages and continued long after his retirement to do advanced mathematical problems for fun!
Wanting to help others, he joined the SKULE society at U of T. He was well known for his political rants and his love of dark chocolate, classical music, old films and maple syrup.
Friends are invited to Celebrate John's Life on Saturday April 4, 2015 from 12 noon until 3 p.m. at the Rosar-Morrison Funeral Home & Chapel, 467 Sherbourne St. (South of Wellesley).
