Dear Jesuit friends:

I felt so bad when I heard about your brother's death, Fr. John O'Brien (Jack). We all know that he is now with God in a better place with his suffering gone. I know how much his pain caused you sorrow and grief, and I found it extremely difficult to see you bear it. But, God will never give us more than we can bear, and He is with us through every step in our lives.

Father Jack will always be with you; his spirit and good will be part of you no matter where you go. I know that you wanted, needed, and hoped for more time to spend with Father Jack but the time you did spend with him meant so much to him. Your brother Jack loved you very much and I know you will miss him terribly. God gives us examples on this earth of how we should live our lives and Jack was one of the best examples I know. This much I know of him and I wanted to let you know that I have you Jesuits in mind all the time. MY CONDOLENCES to you all every members of Society of Jesus.

Thank you for your gentle presence and your good humour. A very fond farewell and a sincere belief that you are now held in the fullness of God's love.

He was our class teacher at Loyola High School 53 / 54.  A most positive individual I have ever been associated with.  A person who influenced and changed my out look on life and leading to a successful future.  An amazing and kind person, Father John O'Brien.  Interesting, we never knew him as Jack.

I have such warm memories of Father O'Brien from Communications studies at Concordia. We called him "Cher Pere O'Brien".  I remember him as a kind, devoted man with a strong passion for education.

Lest we forget...  Father John will forever be remembered with love and gratitude by every student who ever had the privilege of attending his classes.  His dedication to God and altruistic spirit towards mankind set him apart from most of his peers and won the hearts of all who knew him.

I would like to express my sincere condolences to the family of Fr. John (Jack) O'Brien S.J. and to the Society of Jesus.
I remember Fr. Jack for his marvelous sense of humour. He always had "a chuckle" about him. May the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace, Amen.

A most prayerful and compassionate man.  He will be sadly missed at Manresa.

Fr. John, first cousin of my husband, Harvey Egli.  He was an inspiration to our family always positive, loyal and and a , dear friend.  We will miss his smile his dedication to his ministry and a guiding star to all of us.  Love you and will certainly miss you, your guidance and your never ceasing love.  Mary Egli

The true definition of class and a role model in my life from as long as I can remember. His smile always lit up the room and he always gave the best advice and support no matter what - a real rock in the foundation of so many people's lives. It was an honour and a privilege to be able to share his company and guidance, as I know he touched not just my own, but also countless lives around the world. I'll carry his spirit, support and dignity with me as long as I live. 
We will miss you.
