

Peacefully, in his sleep, Jack passed away on August 28 in his 91st year at the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre – K Wing. Beloved and devoted husband to Bernice (Hamilton) for 68 years. Dearly loved father of Gregory (Whitney), Roger (Rebecca), and the late John (Elizabeth). Cherished grandfather of John, Mary Elizabeth, Vicky, and David. Predeceased by his brothers George, Bill, Walter, and his sister Edythe (Norm Brown). Jack is fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews, and their families.
Jack graduated 1942 as an electrical engineer from U of T, and served as a Sub-Lieutenant for the Royal Canadian Navy in Halifax until 1945. Marrying Bernice in 1943, they moved to Toronto where Jack spent his 37-year career with Ontario Hydro. Jack is remembered for being a devoted member at Fairlawn Avenue United Church, and a life member at the Toronto Cricket, Skating, and Curling Club. Jack, a wonderful “gentle” man, will always be remembered for his sense of humour, caring disposition, and love of family.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of the Funeral Service at 12 noon, which will be held at Fairlawn Avenue United Church, 28 Fairlawn Avenue (Yonge St. 5 lights north of Lawrence Ave.) on Thursday, September 1, 2011.
