Josephine "Josie" Whitlock-Bovett

November 6, 1934July 20, 2020

Peacefully during the evening of July 19, 2020, Josephine Whitlock-Bovett passed away at home.

Daughter of the late George and Florence Pears of London, England. Predeceased by her beloved husband, Roger Whitlock, who was so dearly missed after his passing. Loving wife of 24 years, to Patrick Bovett. Mother to Greg (Diane) and Neil (Sheri) Whitlock of Pickering who enjoyed a wonderfully close connection to their mother. Without a doubt, she will be missed tremendously by her grandchildren Bradley, Sarah, and Sierra, who were such an important part of her life. She always enjoyed time with family and friends.

Josie had a professional career at Scarborough General Hospital, where she worked as an x-ray technician for 35 years while managing the household.

Josie was a proud Canadian, embracing her new home after immigrating from England in the early 1960’s.

Josie was lucky to find love with Patrick Bovett, who had also been widowed. They enjoyed retirement, creating lasting memories through extended vacations and times with old and new friends.

She enjoyed involvement in many aspects of her family’s lives and loved gardening, travel, sewing, and photography. The events of 2020 further highlighted her loving marriage to Pat and the companionship they enjoyed during this pandemic. Social distancing forced them to adopt jigsaw puzzles as an almost contact past-time. Sometimes she and Pat had two of them on the go.

Her liveliness, energy, and organization will be missed by those who knew her. Josie’s character was demonstrated by how she dealt with her illness – never discussing it until near the end of her life, not wanting to disrupt the lives of those around her. She will always be missed and never forgotten.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

Greg, Neil and families. We are truly sorry for the loss of your Mother and Grandmother. Having known Greg since kindergarten there were many, many fond memories of being at the family home and of Mrs Whitlock. She was the only person I knew that wallpapered a fridge and made it work!
Her loss will be felt by family and friends who knew her and our thoughts go out to them.
With Sympathy
Grant, Deborah, Graham, Heather and Caitlin
