It's with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of June Mounce in the late morning of Sunday April 21st 2024. She had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's last fall and although her heart was strong, in the last month she had begun declining fast. After her sons unexpected passing 12 days prior, she gave into the last stage of it. She is now back in the arms of her husband Rodney, embracing their son Jerrod while surrounded by her parents Dick and Doreen (Wright) Mullett.
She leaves behind her daughter Nadine Mounce, a granddaughter Paityn, a beloved sister Merry Toshoff, brother-in-law Brian, her nephew Rob Toshoff, and his wife Richa.
June was married to her beloved late husband, Rodney Mounce, for 50 years. They had 2 children, Nadine and Jerrod. Jerrod lived at home all his life and when June couldn't take care of him, he took care of her. They enjoyed watching hockey, baseball, and basketball, always cheering on the Toronto team. Along with many movies and tv shows they watched together. They had their routines.
June was involved in The Girl Guides of Canada for most of her life, and only gave it up due to health issues in her 40's. She was a Brownie, Guide, Pathfinder, Ranger, Guide Leader/Captain, and the Commissioner/Treasurer for the east end of Toronto division. She took pride in being with the Girl Guides as it allowed her the freedom to learn and grow, and go on many adventures. Guiding was something that she was able to share with Nadine and allowed her to teach her so many things needed in life, with a little bit of fun on the side. They had many adventures together camping and going on so many outings.
June also loved gambling, she played the same numbers in the lottery for over 50 years, loved scratch tickets, and her slot machines. In her younger years, Rod and her loved going to the casino for weekend getaways to enjoy themselves. She and Rod were also avid bowlers in their 20's and 30's and they had the trophies to show. Some of the many hobbies she had were shoes, roller skating, dancing, music, baking, and designing cakes.
Her granddaughter Paityn brought her new light later in her life and right up until the end Paityn was the only person she knew at all times. Her little sweetie. She loved sending her Nanny hugs and kisses and I love you's every time they talked.
June's sister Merry, was her best friend and with her husband helped June with so many things over the years and talked to her almost every day about everything and anything.
June was a long time employee of Drake Intl. as the AP Supervisor for North America.
She will be laid to rest by Giffen-Mack and Trull, and as per her request we will not be having a viewing/funeral. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to the Alzheimer's Society in her name.
Thank you to all our family and friends that have reached out to us. We appreciate the warmth and support.
Until we meet again, spread your wings and fly high. We will miss you always!
