Wow I am deeply saddened and shocked! I was good friends with Kate at one time at the National Ballet but lost touch as time passed. I remember a wonderful, energetic, fun person with a beautiful soul. Gone so young.....My thoughts and prayers go out to Mark and family.

I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Katie. My memories of Katie go back through most of my life which makes it all the more difficult to realize she has passed. As we get older our lives and careers separate us and make us regret the time we do not put asside to stay connected with our friends. But we stay friends. Time miraculously disappears when you finally talk to that friend and reconnect. Tears swell in my eyes when i think that i was going to call Katie. All too late. I wanted to tell Katie that my new grand daughter is named Julia. All too late. I new Katie well enough to know her family was important to her. My heart goes out to the family and hope time will heal  your sadness.

Ms. McCabe was a very influential person in my life. She was more than a ballet teacher. She undoubtedly had a huge part in making me the person I am today. Teaching me to never, ever give up and to be passionate about anything I did. When she left the Quinte there was a huge void that no one could fill. I always felt as though I never got to properly thank her for everything she did for me and all the other students at the Quinte. She taught me to fight for what I loved and wanted. Giving up was never an option. I take the lessons she taught me and use them throughout my life while fondly remembering her. My deepest condolences to her husband, daughters and family. She was an amazing and inspiring woman.

Miss McCabe was an outstanding teacher and mentor for our daughter Madison van Rijn at the Quinte Ballet School.

I remember one day in Belleville, the rain was pouring down and Alex Alcoser and I were dancing in the street, just for the fun of it. A car stopped by, the window opened and we saw the face of Mrs McCabe looking at us. She just told us: "Don't hurt yourselves" and went away. No judgment, no yelling. I remember her as a demanding teacher. But she always told us why she expected purity of technique from every one of us. She was a great teacher, but she was also a great person. Rest in peace Mrs McCabe, my thoughts are for all your family and friends, but also to all your students.

I am so very sorry to hear Kate has passed away...far too soon.  My thoughts and prayers go out to Mark and her girls.  I will greatly miss Kate's humour and her laugh...she always made me smile!!  Saturdays at work will never be the same for me without seeing her friendly face!!  An angel has received her wings!!  RIP Kate

Looking back, Miss McCabe was the woman who made me who I am today. I danced under her instruction for just over three years, and not a day went by when I didn't respect her with every ounce of my being. She pushed every student she taught to reach their full potential, most of the time we didn't know we had it in us! When I doubted the strength I had within me, I never gave up because I trusted her words of wisdom (which always led to success). I will never forget the way she encouraged us all to dance like we were all prima ballerinas or the way that she hugged me the day I graduated from QBS. Living away from home at such a young age was really difficult for many of us, and Miss McCabe raised us as her own. She celebrated our achievements, taught us to fix our mistakes, and empathized when we encountered tragedies. I only wish that she could see now how much she meant to so many of her students; how we succeeded to become such amazing people- because of her. She will surely be missed by everyone, and I can't express how much love and admiration I will always have for her. Condolences and love go out to the family.

Miss McCabe was a wonderful teacher to both my daughters at the Sean Boutilier Studio many years ago and then again at Quinte summer programs.  She made every class so much fun and inspired a love of dance which continues to this day and which greatly enriches their lives.  She made every student feel proud of their accomplishments whatever their ability and we are very sorry to hear of her passing.  Dana, Kelly and Jennie Panes

I am deeply saddened to hear of Katie's untimely death.  My thoughts and prayers go out to her husband Mark, Madeline, Julia, Mark McCabe and the rest of her extended Ludington McCabe Hamilton family.  This is a time for grief, but also a time to remember the joy of having Katie in our lives - something that will be with everyone  she touched.
