I will always remember you grandpa. You took care of me from the day I was born. I made very bad mistakes and didn't listen when I was young and you would yell at me, but you yelled because you loved me and wanted me to mature. I looked up to you because you were a very inspirational, strong, and intelligent person. You taught me to always respect those that were older than me and to be nice to everyone. You were a soldier that fought for Viet Nam Cong hoa and you told me how you weren't forced to join the army, but you chose to fight for your country. You made me have a lot of pride in the country that we are from, which is Vietnam. I always loved hearing you tell stories about your past because it was very interesting. I remember in elementary school when you would pick me up after school but I remember this one walk home with you vividly; I was walking beside you and a bird in the sky caught my eye, and I pointed it out to you. I remember always walking past your bedroom and peaking in and seeing you play cards by yourself. I would come in and play card games with you and the games that I didn't know, you would teach me the rules. I remember watching wrestling on TV with my brother and you would walk past the living room after you ate dinner and see us watching it. You would yell at us because you didn't want us to be influenced by the fighting. Every time there was a project in school where I had to write about the most inspirational person to me, I would pick you, and write a lot of things about you when you were in the army. I would run up to your room for information if I forgot or needed more information. I loved seeing how happy you were when telling the stories. Those are only a few out of many, many memories that i have with you grandpa. I am very happy that i was able to see you every day during those 2 weeks that you were in the hospital. I helped you as much as I could whenever you needed it. I remember one time when you were still in room 537 and I was standing beside you. I asked you if you needed anything and you said no, and told me to go home and rest. I remember all the times when I asked you how you felt and you would always tell me no or that you were tired. I would just hold your hand or put my hand on your shoulder and tell you to just try your best. I regret that I didn't make it to the hospital on time to see you and talk to you. I am happy and sad at the same time because you do not have to stay at one spot now; you can move and go anywhere you want and look over me and our whole family. THANK YOU for everything that you have done for me and I will ALWAYS, no matter what, remember you for as long as I live grandpa. I LOVE YOU ONG NGOAI

My grandfather would always bring happiness to my eyes. I remember when I was younger, My grandfather would come over to my house and stay for a couple of days. I would always ask him about his significant past of when he was in the Vietnam Army. He would tell me his stories while eating breakfast and I was always fascinated by everything he told me. Also I loved keeping a smile on his face by always trying to make him laugh because he always made me laugh when I was younger. My grandfather would always encourage me to try hard in school and to keep striving which always motivated me in school and also, in life. I will always hold my grandfather somewhere dear in my heart and I will always miss you Ã´ng ngoáº¡i.

I remember when i was younger i got up to my grandfathers room to play card games with him.Like goldfish.He also cared a lot about me, and before he asked me to watch TV with him so i was'nt lonely.I showed him my drawings and he told me what he thought about it.I got to spend a lot of quality time with my grandpa when i was young and i regret not spending more time with him now.I wish i could of saw him again before he passed away.He loved me very much and i loved him back just as much.I miss you very much.

I remember when my grandpa was raising me along with my mom, dad and grandma ever since we moved into a new house. Growing up with my grandpa was the greatest experience of my life as he taught me right from wrong, and how to love and care for my family. Since I lived with my grandfather, I have many memorable moments with him, especially when we would play card games together. He would teach me how to play cards so I can play with him. I was honoured to have the opportunity to be able to play with my grandfather because that was an activity that we both enjoyed doing together. My bond with my grandpa kept getting stronger as I spent every second with him. I also remember when my grandpa would take me to the convenient store to buy me food and candy.  Those walks to the convenient store with my grandpa were very special because it reinforced our relationship. I used to always ask him to tell me stories of himself when he was young and he would tell me his experiences serving in the army. I would always be anticipated to hear the stories that he would tell me about his life and experiences as they made me realize how much strength and determination my grandpa has. I wish that I could have spent more time with him and communicated with him more often when he was in the hospital. I wish that I could experience everything again with my grandfather as these moments will be cherished forever. 

 You were someone who was dedicated to your family, and you were the person who I respected the most. Everything that you had done for me is much appreciated, and I want say thank you. It is a great honour to have the privilege to be your grandson. You will never be forgotten. I miss you grandpa.

I remember when I was younger my grandfather would walk to the convenience store near our house and would buy me fries or a burger, on his way back home I remember calling out grandpa, grandpa! And he would always have a smile on his face while walking home.  I also remember when my grandpa was extremely happy that I could finally stay in his room by myself while my grandpa and grandma went downstairs to eat. I really wish I could've spent more time with him during his weakening stage and visited him more often while his was in the hospital. I will miss you very much Grandpa. I will always cherish the times I spent with you. I will always keep you in my heart no matter what. I love you Grandpa.

I remember visiting my Grandfather as a child and playing Dominoes with him. Those were the only times in my entire life that I've ever played Dominoes and I'm glad that he gets to keep that special place with me...

I remember as a kid my grandfather coming by every morning to work on his garden in the backyard. It was his morning exercise and he looked so relaxed doing it. During my rebellious teenage years, I would visit him and play dominoes whenever I got in trouble at home. He was always accommodating to me, even if  he was tired. He always had great stories to tell me about his youth and his career in the army. I wish I could've spent more time with him these last years, and in the end, I hope the last few days I spent with him before he passed meant as much to him as it did to me. I'll miss you Grandpa.
