Laura was my Math teacher while in Dubai at Cambridge international school. She was the personification of beauty and brains- so knowledgeable and yet down to earth and always willing to spend more time with me when I did not get a concept.

Gone too soon, I will also cherish her memory and will forever a be a yardstick for being a great teacher for my children.

Kind hearted. Intelligent. Dedicated. These are some of the words that come to mind when we think of Laura.
She was a very special friend and a cherished family member. A Saturday would not pass without Laura sending a heart-filled text wishing us a good weekend. This speaks to how loving and genuine she was and forever will be to us. Thinking of Laura brings beloved memories to us of how joyful and full of life she was; she loved to laugh and dance. Not once did we see her without a smile on her face. 
Her calm demeanor and elegance resonated in any room she entered. She was wise and chose her words with care, always knowing what to say.
Despite a quiet nature, Laura had a fierce determination. She was extremely hardworking and dedicated to her career, being a supportive wife, and a loving mother. Her merits go above and beyond. Laura had so much passion and love, which she shared with those around her.
Laura was very special. Her kindness, wisdom, and resilience will forever shine brightly in our minds. Our time with her was short lived and bitter sweet, but we will treasure the countless good memories of her in our hearts forever.
Rest in peace beloved cousin, aunt, and friend. We will meet again.


When I first met Laura, in 2014, she was assigned my teacher candidate for her Physics practicum. Laura thought that I chose her because of our common Romanian background, but that was just a coincidence.  With her previous strong teaching experience, it was just a formality for her. Then she became a co-worker and a dear friend.  Laura was so professional, calm, kind and reliable. We used to go out for a coffee and a chat regularly during school vacations. She was a great listener, never complained about anything, not even in the past year… I hope she found peace; I will miss her dearly.

Laura and I met at the Dubai Women's College where we worked together. We instantly clicked at our first meeting as Laura struck me as a warm and genuine soul who was concerned about her students' welfare and success. She was deeply committed to her profession and was respected by all her colleagues and students. Laura and I lived in the same area in Dubai and we often rode home together, which was the opportunity to have interesting conversations. She was a very dear friend and I'm deeply saddened by her passing. I'm happy though that we managed to keep in touch when I left DWC and she also left for Canada. We were in touch right to the end, or at least while she was still able to write. Rest in peace my dear Laura. I will always carry you in my heart!

I got to know  Laura when I started teaching at an educational institute in Dubai. Being new to the workplace Laura provided me with all the help, and support. Over the years we became friends. We shared good times and difficult ones. Even during stressful deadlines and last minute changes , she was patient and reassuring to the team.  The vibe around Laura was always calm and sincere. When you moved to Canada, we all remember your kindness , warmth and  happiness. I kept in touch with her by message and phone calls. 
Dear Laura, Rest in Peace. You are now in a better place.

From Toronto to Dubai and back, through the cold of Canadian winters and the heat of the desert, I experienced first-hand Laura’s hospitality, friendship,  insatiable love for the fine things in life, for travel and adventures. We gathered  around the family table, we dined in fine restaurants, we enjoyed shows,  theatre and movies,  we went shopping, and when we parted , there was always something new I had learned, or  looked at things from a different angle. Dear Laura, we could have done so much more.... I will always cherish our Saturday texts, even though sometimes I wished they were more “informative”😊, will especially remember the response you gave me once, when I asked how you were feeling. You said, I’m happy to be alive. You said it in a way that sounded so natural, so honest, coming deep from the heart. There is so much wisdom in this simple sentence. Somehow, these last months you helped me sharpen my sense for what really matters. Thank you for this, for all the nice words you said to me, ah, how can I forget  the pearls and corals (among other  beautiful gifts), and most of all, for the quiet friendship we shared. Rest In Peace my dear friend.
