A devoted husband to the late Maria Coutinho, supportive father to his son Rosano, and loyal friend to many, his absence leaves an aching void in our hearts, but his spirit lives on in the cherished memories we hold dear.
Lawrie was known for many things: a kind, helpful friend who would be there when you need him; a co-worker at the same office for over 25 years; a musician, playing at church services from a dozen parishes; a singer and video maker on YouTube with over 300 subscribers; a writer of his own life story with about 15 blog posts; a dancer at the Swing Toronto meetup; a travel agent who took his wife and son all over the world; a solo traveller in his last year, visiting Portugal, Berlin, Vietnam, and Japan; a wonderful home cook; and a comical spirit with an unmatched sense of humour, impressions, and timing.
Lawrie lived a life with strong faith in God's love. He found solace, strength, and purpose through this faith, which touched the lives of everyone around him. Whether in times of joy or difficulty, he always prayed for God’s help and inspiration first. This has inspired many to do the same.
He leaves behind his heartbroken family and a community of friends and co-workers who are honoured and grateful to have known him in life. Each moment shared and memory shared will be engraved in our hearts forever.
A visitation for Lawrie will be held Friday, January 5, 2024 from 9am to 10am at Saint Maria Goretti Parish, 717 Kennedy Road, Scarborough, ON M1K3N8, followed by a funeral service (with livestream) from 10am to 11am.
His family invites you to share memories of Lawrie on the Dignity Memorial page found at lawrie.page/passing — they will appreciate reading them in the days to come.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Lawrie's memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
For those not able to attend the service you are welcome to view the service through the Livestream link as we celebrate a life well lived. https://fweb.tv/115288
