

Leroy was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia (Oct.22/1942) and spent his youth growing up and going to school in Whitney Pier. He enjoyed playing sports of all kinds such as hockey, boxing, baseball etc. and was a member of the Boy Scouts of Canada and the Air Cadets. He was also a member and served a number of years as an Alter Boy with St. Philips A.O. Church. After growing up, he joined the Royal Canadian Army and served a number of years overseas in Europe. He participated in many sports there such as boxing, high jumping, racing etc. After his tour of duty, Leroy returned home to Sydney for a brief stint and then moved on to Toronto, Ont. He then was employed by the CN Rail, got married and raised a family. He retired after over 30 years of service.
Roy had a love affair with various genre of music and accumulated an abundance of 45’s and LPs, but his favourite entertainers were number one: Aretha Franklin and number 2, Teddy Pendergrass. Leroy became a pretty good cook and baker. His favourite banana cake. Many great, late parties were hosted at his house.
Leroy was predeceased by his parents: Sidwin Ettienne and Ivol Ettienne and his sister Leona Andrews.
He is survived by his children, Leslie Ettienne (daughter), Steven Ettienne(son). Siblings, Eloise Ettienne (sister), Raymond Ettienne (brother). Extended Family, Rushawn Ettienne (grandson), Melvin Tull and (Evie) cousins. Leroy will be greatly missed, loved and remember by all family relatives and close friends.

Guests may join us for Leroy's Celebration of Life at the Jerrett Funeral Home- St. Clair Chapel, 1141 St. Clair Ave W. or you may watch the service online on Saturday August 17th at 10:30am. The service will begin at 11am, following the service will be his visitation from 12:00pm-2:00pm.
