Linda was born on June 22, 1947, in Bancroft, Ontario to Alice and Arthur Haines.
Linda came to Toronto as a young adult. Her caring and generous nature was evident in her work, first as a teacher’s assistant for children with disabilities and later as a secretary for the police and school system. She also provided a loving home for her husband and children.
Linda married Alfred on May 1, 1971, and he was truly the love of her life. Together they made their home in several Toronto neighbourhoods, including Etobicoke, the Beaches, and later Scarborough. They enjoyed time with family and friends, dining out, houseboating, and the occasional beach or cruise vacation. After Alfred’s passing, Linda devoted herself to caring for her aging parents until their deaths. In her later years, she found comfort at home with her daughter and grandchildren.
Linda enjoyed spending time in her garden and had a lifelong interest in nature and plants. She liked collecting antiques and visiting local shops. She also cared for several dogs over the years, all of whom were special to her. Linda will be remembered for her gentle nature, generosity, and positive spirit.
She will be deeply missed by her children Carolyn Uche and Robert (Sonia) Dyett and her grand-children Brandon Mwendo, Tiana Uche and Aliyah Uche. She is predeceased by her husband Alfred William Dyett (Jr), who she can now meet again.
Linda had a deep appreciation for flowers; if you wish, you are welcome to contribute floral arrangements to the ceremony.
A celebration of life for Linda will be held Tuesday, September 16, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Jerrett Funeral Homes, 660 Kennedy Road, Toronto, ON M1K2B5, followed by a reception from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
