Born October 16th, 1943, Lois passed away suddenly Sunday, August 26th, 2012 at the Toronto East General Hospital from a blood infection following a long struggle with her health.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years Keith Leigh and her son Ian Cox-Leigh.
Lois had a long career in education as a teacher at Eastern Commerce, consultant, project manager and at the Ministry of Education in a variety of roles.
Always a strident believer in social justice, Lois ran twice for provincial office as a New Democrat and was always active in community campaigns, for which she was awarded the 125th Anniversary of the Confederation of Canada Medal.
A celebration of Lois' life will be held on Saturday. September 1st, 2012 at 3 o'clock at The Trull Funeral Home, 1111 Danforth Avenue, Toronto. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Doctors Without Boarders.
