Peacefully passed away surrounded by loving family in the Palliative Care Unit, Providence Villa. Beloved wife of William (d.2020). Dear mother of Ann (Terrence), William (d. 2006), Carol Marie, Don, and Nancy (Stan, Jessie (Amanda) Nathan, Mike (Marissa) Olivia). Grandmother of Ted and Elizabeth (James), Monique and Chantal, Jeremy (Jenna), NiGaia and Malay. Great grandmother of Damon and Lily, Jackson, Caitlyn, Marley and Carter. Fondly remembered by many relatives and friends.
Lola was a remarkable person whose achievements were honoured with many awards including the Canadian Children's Book Centre "Our Choice" Award, Lynn Harrington Award and Lupus Volunteer Award. She was president of the first Ladies Auxiliary, Beaches Lacrosse Club which William (Bill) began from their home in 1968 with much involvement from Lola. She began a Seniors Club when she had 5 young children. A lifelong volunteer, she could see where the need was and filled it. She held many positions within writing organizations including past president of the Canadian Authors Association. She was always so happy to hear of friends and former students’ successes. She was creating poetry while her pacemaker was being inserted in 2023! She also loved sharing her gardening, preserving, sewing, knitting and crocheting and was a Jeopardy champ each night!
A truly inspirational person.
We'll love you forever.
Memorial donations to Ontario Lupus or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
At Lola's request there will be no service.
