We regret to announce the passing of Christopher Carroll, in hospital after a serious illness, on February 29th, 2016. Christopher was born on April 12th, 1946 in Haliburton, Ontario. He is survived by his devoted wife Susan and children Samantha, Andrew, Matthew, and his siblings, James (Lynn) of Toronto, Catherine (Stephen) of Goulais River ON and Judith Ford of Calgary. He will be remembered fondly by his nieces and nephews. Christopher was pre-deceased by his father Dr. Louis H. Carroll, his mother Elizabeth M. Carroll and his brothers, Timothy (Brenda) and Peter (Catherine).
Christopher graduated from the University of Guelph in Political Science. He began his working career with the Ontario Ministry of Transportation. He was later employed in the Ontario Legislature as Chief of Staff for a number of members of the Conservative Party, during the ‘70s and ‘80s. Subsequently, he worked for many years as a successful Realtor in Toronto.Growing up in Haliburton, Christopher enjoyed sports and was a skilled hockey player and high school athlete. Later, he spent many weekends in Collingwood skiing with his children. In recent years, he developed a passion for sailing, and with his brother James excelled in competitive racing on Lake Ontario. Christopher had a keen and long standing interest in politics and was always available for a discussion or debate on any issue!
He will be sadly missed by his family, friends, and colleagues alike.
Special thanks for the dedicated care given by the Doctors and staff of the Michael Garron Hospital. A Celebration of Life will be held in Toronto at a later date.Friends, so wishing, are asked to make a donation in Christopher’s memory to the Toronto East General Hospital Foundation.
