1941 – 2010
It is with great sadness that, after a courageous 7 year battle with cancer, we announce the passing of Louise (Mimi) Smith, surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday October 27, 2010, in Toronto She leaves to mourn her best friend and husband of 47years Hamish, her sons Geordie (Danielle), Sean (Melanie). Predeceased by her father Stuart, she also leaves to mourn her mother Andrée, her brothers Andrew, Peter and Douglas along with her sister Nancy and many nieces and nephews. She leaves behind the lights of her life, her 3 grandchildren, Michaela, Seamus and Delaney.
Born and raised in Montreal, Mimi and her family moved to Toronto in 1980 and quickly established herself as an art consultant. Her love and passion for Canadian artists led her to have numerous showings in her gallery then later in her home. The many trips taken by Mimi and Hamish over the years always included visits to museums and art galleries around the world.
Her family is grateful for the wonderful care and attention provided by the staff at The Sunnybrook Hospital. Special thanks to Dr. Rebecca Dent, Anne Blair, and home-care nurse and confidant Marg Jackson for their dedication and love.
