Predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Alfred Graham Hill. Mother of Karen (Martes), Stephen, Diane (Peter), and Linda (David). Grandmother to Jennifer, Sarah, and Stephanie. Great-grandmother to Kaiden, Charlotte, Jack, and Timothy.
Mom was born in Toronto on January 30, 1927, to Robina Mabel Morrison and Arthur Henning Wright. She spent her early years in Unionville Ontario and the Broadview Danforth area of Toronto. She worked as an Executive Secretary in downtown Toronto until she married Dad in 1950. The newlyweds started their family in Peterborough, where Dad was the pro of the Peterborough Golf and Country Club. In later years, they moved to St. Clair Beach, Orangeville, and Turkey Point, all in Southern Ontario.
Mom and Dad’s holidays always centred around golf, and they played some of the best courses in the world including Augusta National, Pinehurst, Glen Abbey, and St. Andrews in Scotland. They also spent many winters playing golf in Titusville Florida, their winter home. Mom was extremely well-organized and these snowbird trips were carefully planned; prior to packing, she’d draw a map of all the items in their car trunk to ensure the most efficient use of the space. Besides golf, her favourite pastimes included gardening and cross-country skiing in the Caledon Hills with her good friend Doris Campbell. She had joined Beta Sigma Phi, an international sorority, in 1958 and was an active member for many years.
In 2008, Mom and Dad moved to Christie Gardens. After Dad passed away in 2009, Mom got involved in her new community by raising funds through the Crafts Committee and serving as a Welcome Guide for new residents. In 2020, Mom moved downstairs to the long-term care Courtyard community.
Her children express their heartfelt gratitude to the Christie Gardens staff, especially her wonderful caregivers including Phuong, Tendon, Grace, Lilian and Eden.
All are welcome to attend the Celebration of Life at 11am, Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Jerrett Funeral Home, St. Clair Chapel, 1141 St. Clair Avenue West, Toronto. Burial will be held at a future date at St. John’s Norway Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Christie Gardens Foundation Benevolent Care Fund would be sincerely appreciated.
