October 9th 1937 – October 17th 2024
With heavy hearts, we announce that Marcel Duflot, 87, passed on October 17th, 2024, after a long and fulfilling life.
Born in Paris in 1937 to Léon and Henriette (née Loisel) Duflot, Marcel was moved to his Tante Madeleine’s home in Normandy during WWII in hope of escaping the anticipated invasion of Paris. By the war’s end, his family had settled on “La Grande Terre,” a property in Venette, Compiègne, and it was here that Marcel spent the remainder of his childhood.
After attaining his Baccalauréat, Marcel proudly served in the French Navy. Upon completion of his service, he studied technical translation in Paris, and he eventually moved to Toronto in 1967 to put that education to use.
Above all, Marcel was a devoted father to his two daughters, Diane and Solange, who both survive him. He is also survived by his beloved grandsons, Callum and Lucas. Predeceased by former wife and mother of his children, Mary (née Perrin).
A memorial in honour of Marcel will be held on Sunday November 10th at Giffen-Mack and Trull Funeral Home, 2570 Danforth Ave., Toronto. Visitation of cremains from 1 – 2 pm, memorial ceremony from 2 – 3 pm, and reception from 3 – 4 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that charitable donations to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation be made in Marcel’s memory.
