Dearest Mum, 
Not even a billion words will completely explain how much I miss you on your special day and every day. You have always been the greatest treasure of my life… my guiding light.
When God created you, He made you in a special way… to be an embodiment of love. It is sad that you are not with us anymore but know that you’re forever in our hearts.
I know this Birthday will be extra special for you because you now have your Number One to celebrate it with you. We miss him, too.

It's been one year ago
That we said goodbye to Margo
And we're all still missing her; So,
With all the love in our heart
We should truly be smart
And finally let her go.

95!  I REALLY MISS YOU, MUM

You're 95 and not alive,
We'll miss the cake and fun.
But the party you will celebrate
Will be your best, bar none.

It's been a year and we're still so sad
Life's really changed a lot.
We live each day like all is well
But really… it is not.

I really miss you, Mummy dear;
My heart still aches each day.
I focus on the times we shared;
I laugh.  I cry.  I sing.  I pray.

I still see that “look”… those beady eyes.
That smirk that said it all.
You were so much fun in your golden years.
We sure did have a ball.

I loved the way you questioned songs;
You even challenged some.
“If she didn't receive Paddy's letter,
How could she tell him?... that's so dumb!”

And many prayers you changed to suit.
Some things just irked you so.
I smile each time I say those prayers;
I use your versions, too, you know!

“Lead us not into temptation”,
Was your biggest beef of all.
“We get there on our very own;
He'll not leave us when we fall.”

I can go on; I can write a book.
Perhaps I really should!
But I'd much prefer if you were here.
I really, really would!

[Mum would have been 95 tomorrow!]

It seems as if I've know "Margo" and her family for a very long time, but I've only know them a short time. In that short time whenever I visited I always felt at ease. There was something very special about Margo and her family and I was always drawn to her room. My jaw dropped when I saw her name on the memory board. I thought it was a mistake. Her passing was so unexpected because she was not ill. I wish to console each and everyone who is affective by Margo's passing with these words. "Know that she is at peace with the Lord, no more suffering, no more pain", and know that she was loved by many.

She has earned her rest.

Margaret... our prayers and thoughts are with you.  Your mother has been an inspiration to us even though we were not privileged enough to meet her.  Through Gertie, we got to know her and love her.  I can only imagine her meeting with our Blessed Mother as she left this life.  It must have been a most wonderful embrace.  I pray that Margo will continue to bless us and intercede for us to our Blessed Lord and Saviour, and to assist us in our work for Our Mother.

Mummy…Mummy

Just to let you know how fortunate and privileged I feel for having had the opportunity to care for you and keep you company.  I was especially honored to be with you when you left to meet Jesus and Our Lady, to receive your hard-earned and well-deserved eternal reward.  I wonder if you were given the final Rosary count… how many rosaries you really did string!
It was sad and hard to say goodbye but I am happy that you are at rest and peace.

Sometimes I was not sure who was keeping whose company, for no matter how tough a day I may have had or whatever was the worry and concern of the day… your love and comfort was always felt, and somehow I knew everything would be OK.  There did not have to be words spoken or hugs exchanged (but we did get, and welcomed the ‘sweet eyes’ and winks);  I always felt your motherly embrace, comfort and protection… which I know I will continue to feel… this time… from YOUR WINGS!

Your love, guidance, nurturing and example certainly made me the person that I am today, and in death, you will continue to mould me as I discover new strengths and aspects of myself in the days, weeks, months and years to come.

Thank You Mum... I love you, and am missing you.

We would like to express our condolences on behalf of the staff in the Adult Day Program (ADP) at Providence Healthcare.  Margo is remembered fondly by her friends at the ADP as a caring and compassionate individual.  Margo possessed an amazing combination of independence and determination around living, loving and laughing.  The staff still often speak of how Margo would quickly, without hesitation, list off the names of all of her children without pause.  It was clear to us all how much family meant to her, she will be missed by us all.  We hope similar memories will provide you all with comfort during this difficult time.

Legacy of Love

In contrast with the loss of Dad the loss of my beloved Mum at 94 years young will be diffrent.  Mum you have been here for every significant event in my life.  We have spent immesaurable times together and Mum, you have blessed our family in countless ways, and have thought us love and how to share.  Mum, you will always be the matriarch of our family, and the one who is credited with the wisdom of age. I will always feel your nurturing and caregiving, I will miss you every day and your love in my heart I will eternally keep, because loves lives on.

I never "Mums", but I felt like I knew her through you, she was a woman with an extremely big heart, a woman of noble character. "Her children stand and bless her, her husband praises her" (Proverbs 31:28 - read Proverbs 31)
Be proud of the legacy she left all of you and hold her in your heart forever, (chebez fort) be strong.

I know Grandad was there to receive Grandmums along with all the loved ones before her. 
What a long, full life she had always surrounded by family and friends, never lonely - a true fortune that cannot be measured; if All could be so lucky.    The world has changed much throughout her 94 years. Grandmums added 11 Fernandes' to this world with offspring upon offspring barely countable; a legacy that will carry on and on in all of us.

I offer my deepest sympathies and love to all the Fernandes family, who were more like brothers and sisters than friends when we were growing up in Georgetown. I shall never forget how welcome Auntie Margo always made me, in spite of already having a house full of children.  My mum and I were always grateful to Auntie Margo and Uncle John for immediately taking us in without question after my parents split up. They were two very special people, hopefully now together once more.

Once in a while there’s someone very special whose caring ways make a beautiful difference in life.  “Mums” was that very special someone.
I will miss making your Birthday and Mothers’ Day cakes and corsages, Mums, but most of all, I will miss you.
