Margaret was born on April 27, 1973, in Mississauga. She was brought home from the hospital without a name. Her parents, David E. Walker Jr. and Joyce Walker, already had three children. Her mother, tired of waiting for her siblings to suggest a name, decided she would be named after the queen and her sister—hence, Margaret Elizabeth. As the fourth child, she had to endure the loving “mothering” of her older siblings. Many of her early days were spent at church with her family.
In 1993, Margaret spent several months in California helping care for her three-year-old niece and newborn nephew.
Margaret was a beloved part of the Regent Park community. She worked with the Kiwanis Boys and Girls Club, starting as a Safe Walker, ensuring children got home safely after school. She later worked as a receptionist and supported the planning of after-school programs and activities. Margaret was well known and deeply loved by the community she served.
Margaret loved music and dancing. As she often said, music was healing to her soul. She especially loved being close to the DJ booth, where she could feel the music move through her.
One of the greatest joys of Margaret’s life was spending the last eleven months with her first born grandson, Elias Anthony Walker, who brought immense love and happiness into her life.
Margaret will be greatly missed by her son Jayden Walker; her grandson Elias Anthony Walker; her brothers Franz Walker (Franzisca Walker) and David Walker (Anne-Marie Lee Loy ); her sister Claudine Robinson; nieces Kyla Robinson and Sian Walker; nephews Charles D. Robinson and Sam Walker; her uncle Deryck Brooks; and a host of cousins and dear friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, David E. Walker and Joyce Walker, and her beloved son Demar Walker.
Margaret will be remembered for her loving heart, her honesty, and the way she showed up for the people she cared about. Her laughter, her love of music, and her beautiful spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
