

Jean died on Saturday May 23rd, 2015 at North York General Hospital shortly after celebrating her 80th birthday. She is survived by Tony her loving husband of 59 years. She was a devoted and extraordinary mother to Paul, Jean-Marie Trant (Phil), Maurita Baker and Brian. She was an exemplary grandmother to Lisa Trant, Derek Trant, Javier Figueroa, Julian Baker and Brendan Baker. She was loved dearly and will be mourned and sadly missed by her entire family, including her many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Jean was born in Belleville, Ontario, the third child of Morley and Lucille Smith. She is survived by her sister Mary Whelan, her brothers Jack Smith (Marlene), Ron Smith (Gloria) and Tom Smith (Kathy). She was predeceased by her sisters Gerry Smith and Sharon Surette. Jean was greatly instrumental in the success of Avenue Travel Service which she and her husband Tony established in 1976. She so caringly instilled into the business her indomitable spirit and relentless positive outlook, that were the very core of her being. She will be remembered for her quilting talent. Jean lovingly created and shared many stunning masterpieces for family, friends and charity.
Friends may visit at the TRULL “NORTH TORONTO” FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 2704 Yonge St. (5 blocks south of Lawrence Ave.) on Wednesday May 27th from 6:00 – 8:30 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday May 28th at BLESSED SACRAMENT CATHOLIC CHURCH (Yonge St. south of Lawrence Ave.) at 11:00 am.
