On Tuesday January 23 at 12:44 pm my Mom, Maria slipped the surly bonds of earth. It is not uncommon for a son or daughter to profess love for their most precious treasure, their mom. As most people who inspire and encourage us to become the best human beings we can become, this is who my mom was to us.
She was one of the most giving persons I can recall knowing. She offered the shirt off her back even lacking a shirt of her own. She would often remind us that “tutto il mondo e paese” and to always stay steadfast in what you pursue.
She was a wounded warrior fighting various health issues during the later stages of her life. Yet no matter how in pain or tormented she was if you were to ask her ‘how are you?’ she would give you the same answer...I’m ok.
I would also be remiss if I did not mention the tenacity and ferocious will of Rosemarie, my sister who gave up every facet of her life but her job to personally care for my mom up to the last days. Only someone like Rosemarie could day in and day out provide companionship, love and care to my mother.
I also want to thank my wife Pina, who in the end was there to witness the passing of my mom from this life to her eternal resting place. Words cannot describe how grateful we are that she provided a loving and peaceful ambiance during the final moments of her life.
Lastly, Ryan and Lauren, beloved grandchildren of Maria will surely miss their Nonna Maria. They were both the apple of Nonna’s eye. Nonna’s heart was always filled with joy upon seeing both her grandchildren. She loved them wholeheartedly.
May I end as my Mom would always say...May God Bless You In Every Way!!
May the Lord keep you in his loving grace.
Your son,
Charles
