After retirement, she became an active and valuable volunteer of Sew On Fire Ministries, a Burlington-based charity. Prior to the advance of dementia, she was quite reserved, but during her years at Presentation Manor in both independent and assisted living, she was renowned for wearing purple and dancing at every musical event they held.
