I just read the sad news of Renna's passing.  Please accept my sincere condolences.

To Anthony and family,
I was so saddened to hear of the passing of one of my dearest friends from many many years ago,. Maureen and I met when we worked together in the office of BNPD Services, at “The Bruce” in 1971. We got to know each other well as we worked side-by-side in the typing pool. When you and she moved to Toronto, we kept in touch during the years of each of us having two daughters. I vividly recall driving from Port Elgin (now Saugeen Shores) on a hot sultry July weekend to visit you and Maureen. We spent a lovely couple of days together, and I got to see what your life was like in the Beach. Our daughters are now in their late 40s, but over those many years since that visit, we have had many conversations over the phone, and it always felt like we had never really been separated.

We moved to British Columbia in the summer of 2020, and just a few weeks ago, I had what was to be my final conversation with Maureen over the phone. I will miss those chats, but I do look forward to seeing her again someday when we are all united with our Lord.

Anthony, you and your daughters and families will be in my prayers as you grieve the loss of your wonderful wife and mother whom God has gifted you with.

Although we lived on the next street in the Beach, I think I first met Maureen when going to meetings of the Babysitting Club when our daughters were very young. It was comforting to find some mothers from England who had no family here. My husband & I left Toronto 20 years ago & I regret now that you & Maureen were never invited to visit us on Lake Simcoe. We love living by the lake but it doesn't compare with seeing neighbour's while gardening or sitting on the veranda, I'll really miss those days when we used to see Maureen & have a chat over a cup of tea.

Our deepest condolences, Maureen will be forever etched in our memories and heart. I have fond memories of our cups of tea when we were younger.  More recently crossing paths on Kenilworth and having a little chat. 
Your Mom often spoke about you Jillian and Kristanne and your beautiful children.

When I gained Jill as a friend, I also gained Maureen. Who knew we'd click like old buddies. A Farewell to Renna

I’m the crossing guard at Queen and Elmer, and it has been my particular pleasure to have known this wonderful woman. Renna has been in my orbit since I started in 2015. She always strode proudly, chin up, eyes blazing, puritanically stalking between cleaning her daughter’s house and the much-anticipated pick up duties at Kew. Rowan and Renna always had a fiercely protective and strongly proud woman front and centre on their horizon. She passed by me with fire in her eyes and wit in her words. I noted how many times she enjoyed a chocolate chip cookie, a mid-block swoon where she reset her mind back to when she was feisty, and mobile. She was always imperial and sassy at the same time, the Renna Paradox, a fierce contradiction in terms, and damn you for pointing anything out. She left a deep impression wherever she strode, and she was inexorable to all who fell under her spell. Renna, I shall miss our swift chats, our shared words, our unexpected bond. I shall always look out for your namesake, Renna, and Rowan and Anthony and everyone else who crosses with me, but you are the one I shall miss the most. Sail on brave Ulysses, the happy isles beckon. We will muddle forth here as best we can. We shall all meet again when the stars fall from the skies. Until then, I salute you in the best way I can.


Dear Antony, Kristanne, Jillian and family,
I was so saddened to hear the news of the death of such a vibrant, dynamic life force as Maureen, your wife and mum. My memories of Maureen go all the way back to my earliest childhood memories living in the beaches and being looked after by her and Antony at a young age whilst playing with Kristanne and Jillian. 

Every time I’ve visited and lived in Toronto I made sure we met up and always enjoyed lengthy chats about life and felt encouraged by her enthusiasm for life. She always made me full good about myself too- a true gift in a person. 

The last time we met was in England when she was the most helpful guest ever in my mum’s house to the point of hilariously throwing away a pan of fresh chai tea my Indian husband had made and washing it up with vigour to our dismay! So very keen to help and make herself useful that it made us all laugh out loud. 

I also always found a connection as we shared a similar hair and skin colour - us reds have to stick together. 

A sad goodbye and too early for sure. I’m so sorry I’ll not meet up with her again but look forward to seeing you all during my next visit to Canada when it’s easier to travel.

I'm going to miss my auntie Maureen more than my words can express. She was a force of nature that you couldn't contain, and after realising she was more heart than anything, you wouldn't want to. So terribly sad to hear of Maureen's passing. We shared a memory box full of outstanding events and celebrations for the past 40 odd years.
