It is with great sadness that the family of Myron Michael Austin Armstrong announces his peaceful passing after a lengthy illness, on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at the age of 80 years. Myron (Mike) will be sadly missed by his sons Paul (Kitchener, ON), Michael (Ancaster, ON), and grandchildren Joshua, Mya and Jaida (Paul) and Amani, Koji, and Zen (Michael). Cherished son of Eda Cecily Armstrong Tyrrell (Montreal, QC); Beloved “Big Brother” of Richard Tyrrell (Brampton, ON), Dawn Tyrrell (New York, USA) and Heather Tyrrell (Montreal, QC); and devoted uncle to Arielle and Giselle (Richard) and Isaiah (Heather). He will be fondly and lovingly remembered by his Aunt Muriel Armstrong (Barbados), his many cousins (Canada, USA, Barbados), friends, neighbours and clients. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in memory of Myron be made to Bridgepoint Active Healthcare @ https://www.bridgepointhealth.ca/en/foundation/how-to-donate.asp.

My condolences to Tyrrell and Armstrong family on the passing of Myron. I remember Myron as being passionate about his family, community and cultural roots. He spent a lot of time addressing the concerns of people, lending his voice through advocacy and striving for changes to a better life for the people he loved and his community. I remember him quoting african proverbs and his love of story telling with memorable quotes.
May he rest now free in peace, in God's loving arms of Care.

I would like to offer our (Irvin, Elsie, and Carolyn) condolences to the family of Myron. I was one of the first people he met when he came to Canada. He lived with us for a time in Montreal. I was the little kid who had another big brother who created great memories for me - from our talks about girls to me 'working' for him when he opened a jazz club.

I would like to take this opportunity and convey my profound sympathy on this sad occasion to Myron (Mike) Armstrong's grieving relatives (family members). I knew Mike for approximately four decades. He was indeed a very good person who was very sociable, and was most concerned about different social and political issues that impact the African-Canadian-Caribbean communities. His transition to another plane is a great loss to many of us. However, his family,I relatives, and love ones can be relieved knowing that he has transitioned to be with his ancestors and they have received him with much joy and merriment on this phase of his life journey. Let us collectively wish that his soul rest in peace.
