Pat had a kind soul and a strong constitution as a result of being raised a devout Catholic prairie gal in Saskatchewan, with her eight siblings: Edra, Ted, Ilyene, Jack, Merle, Alva, Chuck and Donnie. She followed her sisters after the war to Toronto where she met and married Bill and went on to have six children of their own: Edward, Norine, Brett, Mark, Russell and Ian.
There were no airs about her. Quiet, but determined. A selfless individual who gravitated towards providing care to those in need. Her idea of getting dressed up (which she was not fond of) was a bit of red lipstick and a spray of Channel No. 5. The simple things brought her joy: laughing with her sisters over childhood stories and their “Pendergast” ways, macaroni and tomato juice with the kids, ice cream served alongside a large mug of instant black coffee, and of course, good old classic country music. And naturally, she would never pass up an impromptu road trip with family or friends (“Let’s go-you can buy a toothbrush anywhere.”) or the opportunity to demonstrate the fine art of turkey gobbling.
Pat was a beloved grandma to Trysh, Scott, Connor, Kurt, Cody, Carly and Dylan and a great-grandma to Liam and Nolan. Pat also has numerous nieces, nephews, a devoted daughter-in-law, Donna, and caring extended family members.
Pat passed away peacefully on April 1st with family at her bedside in the truly loving and warm atmosphere of the Marian Residence (Cambridge), operated under the direction of the Sisters of Our Lady Immaculate.
Pat lived a good life and will be deeply missed by all that knew her.
If you would like to do something in memory of Pat, please request that a Mass be said at your local parish.
