April 25, 1932 – August 29, 2019
Peggy passed away suddenly at Scarborough General Hospital, Thursday, August 29th at the age of 87.
Beloved wife of William (Bill) Vincent for 62 years. Cherished mother of Heather (Greg Wiltshire) Norman and Valerie. Loving grandmother (Momo) to Taylor Murray, Meredith Zahid (Zameer) and Jaden Wong. Predeceased by her grandson's Jackson and Janson Wong. Lifelong friend of Barbara Mattock. Devoted sister of Colin Hanks and his wife Pam of Bristol, England. Loving cousin of Alan and Sharyn Pink and their family of Bracknell, England. Missed by her nieces Jane Guest and Sally Griffiths, and by her nephews Graham, Douglas and Brian Vincent and their families. Predeceased by her parents Albert and Hester Hanks of Bristol.
Peggy was born in Frampton Cotterell Gloucestershire on April 25, 1932. She grew up in Shipton Moyne and went to school in Tetbury. She graduated from Cheltenham General Hospital Nursing program in 1950 as a State Registered Nurse. She worked at London's Middlesex Hospital and went onto study to be a State Certified Midwife; a calling that she was very passionate about. She met Bill Vincent at a dance in Cheltenham in 1952 and after a long courtship and correspondence, married him in 1957 and they immigrated to Canada. They settled in Toronto, where she worked for the Salvation Army Grace Hospital and subsequently moved to Scarborough where they raised their 3 children and were actively involved in the Scarborough Historical Society. They also built a cottage on Oxtongue Lake which was lovingly nicknamed Peggy's Folly. She will also be missed by many of her friends and neighbours.
The family are extremely grateful for the love and support provided by Bill and Peggy's neighbours over these past many years. We feel very blessed to have had you in our parents’ lives.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Peggy’s name to the Salvation Army.

To Peggy's family my condolences. Growing up you were always so kind to my brother, myself, and mother.
I can remember spending many Christmas' with Peggy and her family and the Christmas dinners. The memories of their dog and Norman giving my brother and I Venus flytraps are memories that stick out the most for me. Thank you and again my condolences.

My heart is completely broken by the loss of my dear grandmother. The most amazing grandmother that Taylor, Jaden and myself were so lucky to have. The world will never be the same without you but I’ll make sure I always carry on the memories we shared and will do everything to make you proud. ❤️

I am still in shock about Peggy’s untimely passing. I’ve known her and her husband, Bill, for over 40 years because of his involvement with the Arts, both Art Guild of Scarborough and East Central Ontario Art Association, to which I too belong. Peggy supported Bill in both endeavours, although she herself did not paint. She was also generous, caring and had a wicked sense of humour. I’m also happy to know her wonderful family (Heather/Greg, Norman, Valerie; grandkids Taylor, Meredith and Jayden) who, I know, are still grieving the loss of their wonderful mom and grandma. I will miss her very much. May she Rest In Peace.

She was the best Mum anyone could ever want..she was funny, caring, firm and loving. She was my partner in crime.
She encouraged our strengths and helped us fight our weaknesses.
Was lucky to my have my best friend in life for so long. We talked almost every day and laughed so much together.
She told me that every time I smelt lavender she was with me ..but she will be with me forever. There is a huge hole in my life now.

Jim and I want to send our heartfelt condolences to all of you. We loved Peggy and would enjoy our long conversations across the fence. Peggy would tell it like it is! She had the biggest heart and made the best carrot cake and banana bread. She would never swim in our pool because it was too warm. To us Peggy was not just a neighbour but family. Rest in peace, we will miss you.
