Perla Domondon Brown

Perla was born and raised in Baguio City, Philippines to Justice Sixto Domondon and Tomasa Diaz. She was a highly intelligent child and a voracious reader. Her elementary education was at Maryknoll Convent School and her secondary education at St. Theresa’s College. She graduated from Maryknoll College in Quezon City with a bachelor’s degree in English. And, she attained a Master’s Degree in Business Administration at the University of York in Toronto, Canada.

Perla was a free-spirited, multi-faceted, and energetic woman. Her love for nature and adventure alongside her talent for languages brought her to many places across oceans. Her wide range of interests and abilities landed her in diverse jobs including a stint at the United Nations in New York, a banker in Vancouver, a tour guide in Madrid, a ski instructor in Colorado, and a freelance writer in the Philippines. In her role as an employment recruiter, she met the love of her life Scott Brown, who completely changed her and her lifestyle.

In 1996, a cerebral hemorrhage took the use of Perla’s voice and body but couldn’t diminish her zest for life with Scott always beside her. She refocused her energies and found joy in the simple things in life. She enjoyed reading, playing solitaire, watching movies, and ardently cheered for her favorite tennis players and football teams. An avid and skilled artist himself, Scott taught Perla to paint and through acrylic paint and watercolors she created an impressive portfolio of artwork.

The Domondon family’s eternal gratitude and love goes to our brother and uncle Scott, whose ever-present attention and care supported our beloved Perla for the last twenty-seven years of her life.

Perla will be missed but will always remain in our hearts. She is survived by Scott, her husband of 33 years and her siblings Coeliflor, Percival, Mary, Reynaldo, and Eduardo. She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers – Napoleon, Ernesto, Ramon, and Hector. She is missed dearly by 15 nieces and nephews and 19 grandnieces and grandnephews.
