Phyllis passed away peacefully at Peel Manor, Brampton, on February 12, 2015, in her 107th year. Born in 1908, she came to Canada from Scotland as a little girl in 1912, her parents having been unable to get tickets to travel on the Titanic. The family settled in the junction triangle of Toronto, which is where she grew up, and where she, and her husband of 58 years, Charles Harrison, raised their three children. Phyllis lived through WWI and the Great Depression. In 1939, when Charles went off to defend Canada, and the world, as a member of the first wave of the Canadian troops, she raised her children by herself for 6 years before he returned in 1945. She never complained, working several jobs to support her family. Her two sons, Charles (1926 – 2010) and George (1933 – 1975), would both serve their country in WWII and the Korean War.
Phyllis is survived by her loving and devoted daughter Helen and daughter-in-law Edith. She had 12 grand-children many great grandchildren and even several great, great grandchildren.
