Though it has been almost ten years since we last met, I will always cherish the time I spent with both of you.

As a young student far from home for the first time, uncertain and discovering Canada, I was welcomed with warmth and generosity by Richard and Henry, something I could never thank you enough for.

Those months in Toronto remain a precious memory to me. I still remember the laughter shared at the dinner table over Henry’s delicious cooking, our evening walks, and of course the long, engaging conversations in the living room. Richard always with a glass of wine in hand, sharing his wisdom, humor, and stories with that distinctive British accent. He was brilliant, full of life, and always eager to offer both kindness and laughter.

Though it was only three months, that time shaped me in a way I will never forget. Thank you a lot for that. Richard, I do believe the couch is very comfortable where you are now.

Goodbye, my friend. Rest in peace.

Rest in Peace, my friend.  Gone are the confusion, the memory loss and the health issues. Thank you for trusting me with your Simon when you travelled to the Philippines with tito Henry.

Mostly I thank you for considering and treating our grandchildren Cassandra- Lane and Maia-Alexandra as  your own. Rest now.

Richard took me in and provided me with a loving and happy home when I was an undergraduate student at U of T. He made me feel like one of his sons and Gary, Dan and I had some great times together. He stepped in when nobody else would and provided me not just with a home but with a surrogate family. I will never forget his kindness and the fact that he was there when I needed support the most. On behalf of my whole family I offer my deepest condolences to his family. He will be missed very much by many of us.

I will remember Richard as an incredibly intelligent, tech genius from his many years of designing and managing vision impaired programs at the CNIB.  Someone with a passion to care for and help others in need.  A generosity, creativity, energy and dedication that he passed on to next generation of kids and grandkids.  I especially recall his sense of humour that was always shining. 

Richard had a deep soulfulness and courage with which he met life's challenges.  My deep condolences to all the extended Westgate/Aguila family and friends on his departure.
