Very sorry to hear of Robert's passing, and so young. I remember him well from summers in Nova Scotia when I was a kid. My condolences to all his friends and family.

Rod Cameron AKA (chicken Rob)

My partner and I met Rob around 33 years ago.  I had some salt water aquariums and ended up at a pet store where Rob was working.  He had a good knowledge of the salt water set up so he ended up looking after my tanks for me. I did not know it then but this was the start of a long friendship with Rob that also turned into a working relationship later on.

The chicken Rob name got stuck to him just after we met him because he looked so young and rarely shaved.  The circle around us at the time also called him chicken Rob which he didn't like too much but eventually decided that it would mean he would always be chicken no matter what time did to him.

Whenever I needed a good hard working position to be filled I would look to Rob to see if he was interested.  And so over the years, he joined me in the following operations. He worked with us in a couple of contracts that we had with Jamz a bar and eatery in Ontario place installing the sound and light system, We then moved on to The Amazing Food Company,  a large catering company which catered to the film industry, opened and ran the new, at the time, CBC cafeteria and also catered to weddings and other events. At this point I found out that Rob liked to get the church on time, but we had to remind him he was carrying the wedding cake so take it a bit easy on the corners.  

Next we worked had together was at the Canadian Film Centre  - opened by Norman Jewson in 1987 -- in the once abandoned Windfields estate on Bayview.    Rob worked tirelessly in this venture through the renovations process and made sure that the grounds and the film crews were looked after.  Rob would make good work out of whatever he did  even if it was cleaning out 2 - 8 feet deep fish ponds that hadn't been touched in 20 years.

After that Rob started to work for himself working for many people as an all-round maintenance person.  The one thing that I know is that Rob was a tireless worker and would help out a friend whenever he could.

We hadn't physically seen Rob in a few months, but spoke to him every week at least once or twice a week  usually at night - after his work day ended  just reaching out to keep in contact.

Rob, we miss you. Enjoy your well-earned rest.
