Predeceased by his wife Maureen in 1993, he is survived by his conjoint Marguerita Delaney, son Tom (Karen), daughter Barbara (Jim Biagi) and daughter Lynn (Dan Elman), and grandchildren Hayley and Scott Fuller, Kelly and Janine Biagi and Breanna Elman.
Born September 7, 1926 in Moosomin, Saskatchewan, second son of Albert Thomas Fuller and Helen Marguerite Williams, Bob grew up in Regina. He earned a Bachelors and a Masters degree in Chemistry from the University of Saskatchewan, and a Ph. D in Biochemistry from the University of Minnesota. Upon graduation in 1955, he joined Johnson and Johnson Canada in Montreal, Quebec as research chemist, becoming Vice-President of Research and Development in 1962. He had a distinguished career with Johnson and Johnson and was promoted to their worldwide operations in New Jersey in 1966 as Vice President Research and Development. He held a number of senior management positions with a variety of Johnson and Johnson companies, completing his 30 year career as Corporate Vice President of Science and Technology. Bob retired in 1986, and he and Maureen moved to Toronto in 1989.
A passionate and very successful curler, he won many bonspiels in Canada and the USA, as well as finishing in 3rd place in the US Men’s national championship in 1970. He participated for 41 consecutive years in the Quebec International Bonspiel, winning many events, and was President of the bonspiel in 1985. Bob was also an avid tennis player and a member of the University of Saskatchewan Varsity tennis team and continued to play tennis regularly throughout his life. In recent years, Bob was an active member of the post tennis luncheon group the ROMEOs (retired old men eating out).
While living in Quebec, Bob was a President of the St Lambert Curling Club, and an alderman for the city of St. Lambert. In New Jersey he continued with his passion for curling as a founding member and a President of the Plainfield (New Jersey) Curling Club. He held many business and professional positions in industry organizations, one of his personal highlights being the Founding Chairman of the New Jersey Liberty Science Center.
Bob was a dedicated family man and provider. He loved to play practical jokes, always had a “story” to tell and was known for his collection of novelty t-shirts. He was very proud of his children’s and grandchildren’s accomplishments and took great interest in all of their activities. He was well loved and will be sorely missed.
Bob was surrounded by a special team of loving caregivers, and the family would like to thank Dr. Frank Loritz and Dr Victoria Lee, Madeline, Christine, Raisel, Greg, and Dennis, along with the dedicated staff at the Sprint Day Program.
