"Noodin"
December 10, 1975 - July 29, 2023
On July 29, 2023 Robert James McGill, spirit name Noodin, of Toronto, passed peacefully, and unexpectedly; at the young age of 47.
Robert’s death leaves his wife and partner of 20 years, Sarah Sirois and their 15 year old son Hayden James McGill Sirois, devastated.
Robert also leaves behind his mother Linda McGill and sister Amanda McGill. Robert was preceded in death by his father, Ray Chandler.
Robert leaves behind many extended family members, and close friends who were his chosen family.
“Uncle Shagz,” has also been a present and loving uncle to many children throughout the years; and will be deeply missed.
Robert will be remembered for being fiercely loyal to the ones he loved.
Robert was an investor in many ways, he collected sought after sports memorabilia, among other things. He was always exploring new business ideas, including designing and creating his own clothing.
Robert had a big heart and enjoyed giving to those he was close to. He enjoyed writing and transformed his mothers stories, of his grandmother Lila McGill’s lived experiences, into a book; and had recently just completed writing a new fictional book.
Robert was a man of great strength, as displayed through his life accomplishments. Robert learned the ins and outs of life, and faced many challenges head on, from a very young age. Regardless, he always found a way to push forward and accomplish any goals he set for himself.
Even though Rob wasn’t known for his patience, he definitely had dedication and perseverance. Not long after his son was born Robert decided to break the cycle and worked diligently to go back to school and not only be the first in his family to complete high school, but went on to college; completing multiple business diploma’s, and a certificate in First Nation's Studies. During his studies he received a Social science award due to his knowledge, and passionate contributions of First Nation’s discussions. Robert also wrote an essay for which he received a building brighter futures award.
Rob loved all sports, but his favourite was basketball. He played basketball on his school teams as a child and youth; and always enjoyed a fun game with family or friends. But even with the fun games, he was competitive in nature and greatly enjoyed winning “family shootouts.”
Whether it was collecting the jersey’s and hats of his favourite teams; ticket stubs from the many sports games he attended over the years, and all types of memorabilia; he was always doing something sports related.
Above all Robert was a proud and loving father, a best friend, and a confidant. He will be missed beyond measure and held in our hearts and memory for many generations to come.
Soar high with the Eagles our beloved Noodin.
