It is August 2024 and my sister just text me that my childhood best friend Ronnie had died. I was gobsmacked he passed in 2016 and news had taken this long to reach me here in London, UK. Over a 10-year span we were part of each other's lives nearly every day.  We lived and grew up 5 houses apart in the beach, East Toronto. As you can imagine over that time there were hundreds of stories to fill a book and even more memories built up as we became indelibly linked by a shared past. A part of me died today. Ron was a legend.

I knew Ron back in the late 70's when my friend lived beside him. I saw my first concert with him when I was 15. Last time I saw him was 1981. We ran into each other at a party and talked in the kitchen for 2 hours.I remember him so fondly. I always thought I might run into him after all these years and we would have a laugh and catch up.

Tess, Adam, Luke and Sarah; I am so very very sorry for your loss. Please accept my condolences. I went to high school with Ron and later, was lucky enough to know his lovely family. Ron helped create three fantastic, interesting, smart and beautiful children. What an absolutely wonderful legacy he leaves. Well done Ron. And may you now find peace.

Ron was such a beautiful person and I was very saddened to hear of his passing.  I often hung out with him in high school and he truly was one of the kindest, sweetest boys in the school.  He was so full of life and laughter. My condolences to his family during this difficult time.

So very sorry to hear of the loss of Ron. Although I had not seen him in years, I will never forget that smile or that laugh and will always remember the fun times we had when we were younger. As a young person, Ron was known for his humour, charm, maturity and intelligence. An only child, he was a devoted son. No matter what time his Mum's nursing shift, he would drop whatever he was doing to pick her up at Riverdale Hospital and drive her home. He won the affections of many a friend's parent simply by being himself.
Ron had an inquisitive mind. On many occasions, he expressed how amazing it is that most everything we see is made up of atoms! Whether it was his enthusiasm for numbers and synchronicity, interest in astrology, or interpreting the meaning of classic rock lyrics, he looked into the greater context of things. 
Although scarcely himself in later years, it is never too late to see one's own light.

I have so many great memories of you Ron - cannot believe you are gone. If I had known the last time I saw you was going to be the last, I would have told you what a positive impact you had on my life. Thanks for being a part of it. You had the best laugh ever - may you rest in peace - see you on the other side, friend.

So many memories, so many good times, from hanging out at the propane filling station, you learning guitar...ha ha ha to the crazy silly fun we had at 4 Season's and all the phone conversations thoughout the years, you will be missed my friend, you will be missed. My deepest condolences to Sarah and the kids.

A true friend , with a heart of gold . Whether on top of the world, or in despair, he always had a smile, and re-affirmation for those around him, no matter what. Crushing sorrow over this news. God speed my friend.

A person that departs from this earth never truly leaves, for they are still alive in our hearts.  Through us, they live on. Sad to be filling in a guest book entry for someone so young but Ron was the type of guy to enjoy life to the fullest no matter the consequences. It must have been the Irish in him.

Always remember Ron as a wild and crazy kid who hung around our house like a son whether it was on Lee Avenue or on Scarborough Road he was always there.with Maura.

Rest in peace and may you be half an hour in heaven before the devil knows you are gone.
