Beloved husband of Newtie, Loving father and father-In law to daughter Lynette and partner Douglas Hein, daughter Kerri and husband Angelo Lunardo, and daughter Jennifer.
Devoted grandfather to Jessica, Kayla and Luca.
Loving brother of Elaine (deceased) and Ted Gawinski, and Della and John (deceased) Sutton.
Loving son of George and Gertie Hartwell (deceased).
Ross was a loving and supportive husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, son and friend. Gracious and kind, he enriched the lives of all who knew him.
Long time employee for Siemens Electric Canada. Eventually retiring in 2001, at which time Ross and Newtie spent winters in their second home in Florida.
Ross and Newtie were avid travelers, putting many miles between their homes in Toronto and Florida, North America and Europe, visiting family and friends. International friendships were made and endured for over 50 years. Numerous trips together were enjoyed by the entire family. Ross looked forward to the regular Hartwell Family reunions over the years. His love for technology enabled him to create wonderful video memories, shared by all.
Ross and Newtie looked forward to their early morning walks together around their homes both in Toronto and Florida, as well as many trips to Corkscrew Swamp and Barefoot Beach.
Ross’s children and grandchildren enjoyed many hours spent together, learning about woodworking, and taking part in Fast Track, and Domino tournaments.
As a child in Swan Lake Manitoba, Ross fondly remembered making and enjoying ice-cream with his grandfather, the love of which has been passed down to both his children and grandchildren.
Many Sunday family evenings were spent hearing tales of his life in small town, rural Manitoba.
We will miss him tremendously.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date when it is appropriate to gather.
