

Ruth Dawn Cooper- loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away on June 14, 2023, in Scarborough, Ontario. She was born in Alliston, Ontario, to Stanley and Inona Gennings of Mansfield, Ontario.
Ruth was predeceased by her beloved husband, Gord Cooper, and her dear sister, Margaret. She is survived by her children, Darryl Cooper (Valerie), Chris Cooper (Joy), and Diane Cooper (Shawn), who will forever hold her in their hearts. Ruth’s grandchildren, Hannah, Sarah, Jenna, Ben, Ryan, and Zoe will forever remember her love and affection. Her sister, Inona Joiner (Phil), will deeply miss her presence and the special bond they shared. She will be remembered kindly by all her friends and extended family.
Ruth was known for her kind and caring nature, always providing strength and comfort to friends, family, and even strangers in need. She touched the lives of many with her compassion and left a lasting impact on everyone she met.
Ruth possessed a range of talents and interests. She excelled at rug hooking and scrapbooking, leaving behind treasured works of art that will be cherished for years to come. She loved music, which was evident through her piano playing and singing with her sisters. She also shared a passion for teaching others, as evidenced by her teaching career. She was integral to the success of Cooper Equipment Rentals started by her husband, Gord, a successful business that continues to thrive today.
Ruth and her family will be forever grateful to all the staff at the Scarborough Retirement Residence, who treated her with kindness, dignity and love for the 5 years she lived there.
While there will be no formal funeral or memorial service at this time, Ruth's family and friends will hold her dear in their hearts and gather to celebrate her life privately. May her soul find eternal peace, and may her family and friends find comfort in the knowledge that her memory will forever be a source of inspiration and love.
In honour of Ruth's memory, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH). Ruth recognized the importance of supporting mental health initiatives and wished to contribute to the well-being of others.
