Ruth "Joanne" Ferron

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, Ruth “Joanne” Ferron (nee Whiffin) on November 6, 2023 at the Chartwell Waterford Retirement Residence in Oakville. Joanne was born in Toronto on March 28, 1935 and was in her 89th year. Beloved wife for 65 years to the late John “Murray” Ferron, Q.C. and a loving mother of Drew (Kathy) Salt Lake City, Lawrence (Lara) Toronto and Murray (Luisa) Oakville. Predeceased by her parents Thomas and Jessie and brother Tom.

Joanne met Murray at the law firm of Codwell and Smith, they married in 1955 and raised their family in the Beach on Glen Manor Dr. They attended Kew Beach United Church where Joanne performed in the Hand Bell and vocal choirs. Joanne was an active member in the community, bridge clubs and Kew Beach tennis.

Joanne enjoyed attending symphony, operas and theatre festivals and delighted in sharing these passions with their grandchildren, MacKenzie (Jamieson), Savannah (Arne), Dylan, Evan, Tate and Rowan. Entertaining, knitting, reading, decorating and enjoying Murray’s gardens were favourite pastimes.

Always kind, complementary and thoughtful, she will be sorely missed. We would like to express our deep gratitude to the Chartwell Waterford Retirement community in Oakville for their loving care.

Visitation Thurs. Nov. 16, 2023 from 4:00pm -7:00pm and visitation and reception Friday Nov. 17,2023 at 10:00 am with service to follow at 11:00 am at the Giffen-Mack Funeral Home, 2570 Danforth Ave., Toronto.
