It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Terry on May
18, 2013 at his home in Toronto at the age of 84 after a long and courageous
battle with cancer. Beloved and devoted husband to Barbara (nee Sagar) for 60
years. Loving father to Susan, Molly, Michael, Peter and Mary. Cherished grandpa
to Diane, Melany, Aidan, Kimberly, Jack, William, Margaret, Mehari, and Zerihun.
Dear brother to Molly Pelton (nee Doran). Terry was one of the first Canadian
obstretrican/gynaecologists recognized world-wide for his research, which
focused on prenatal diagnosis. He was frequently referred to as “the father of prenatal
diagnosis.” He eventually became full-time staff at Toronto General Hospital, director
of the hospital’s Antenatal Genetics Clinic, and Professor Emeritus in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at University of Toronto. A patriotic Canadian, Terry loved being at the cottage or travelling with Barb and the family, golfing, camping/fishing with friends, reading, and volunteering with the Naval Officers' Association of Canada. Terry loved animals and children. He was the most honest and decent person we have known.
A memorial site has been established with more details of Terry’s life
