So sad to just learn of this now.  It’s been a long time. I have only fond and gentle memories of being with Tom. Connecting after work for a glass of wine, admiring him at the chess boards. What a cool dude. Condolences to his family.

Playing chess at Yonge and Gould, Tom asked about the game Backgammon and how much could a person lose. I said 'infinite' and Tom immediate said ' I'm in"! Years later he would reference to that day and laugh. Tom, you were a good friend and are missed.

I just found out today (Sept 07, 2018) of Tom's death. I have known Tom for around 33 years and never did I meet a person who had such a zest for life and really lived hard. When Tom was with a group of people, he was always the heart and soul and never was there any dull moments! I learned a lot from this man and a lot of ways was like a mentor to me. Tom I will always miss you on and off the chess-board! You always had great experiences to share and put  smile on my face you will be missed and I'll never forget you Rest in Peace.

I remember Tom as being at the center of his being, and being respectful of others. May his energy always be with the Pong family and friends.

Very sadden by the passing of a long-time friend with a fun-loving personality. His discussions and viewpoints of the affairs of our world will be much missed.

Seeing Tom's picture made me very sad.  He was a special and unique individual and as I think back about the time of friendship we spent together I recall his humour and laughter and how interesting his opinions were and how they never seemed judgemental... that too was special. To Bill, Gene Jack and Betty and all the Pong family...my deepest sympathy on such a loss.

Tom had a great sense of humour and his glass was always half full.   He will be missed by many. We worked together in the brokerage business.   I am sorry I will not be able to show my respect at his funeral as I will not be in Toronto on that day. Rest in Peace Tom.
