1939 - 2021
On March 21, 1939, a beautiful baby girl was born to the late Aaron & Eileen Abrams and was named Uranie, the seventh of eight children.
In the Spring of Life:
Uranie was raised in Nabaclis Village on the East Coast of Demerara, Guyana SA. She attended the Golden Grove Methodist School where she completed her primary education. Later she attended Central High School to further her secondary education completing her Junior & Senior Cambridge examinations. She immediately began her teaching career as a Student Teacher and attended the Government Teacher’s Training College becoming a trained teacher. After graduation she continued working with the Ann’s Grove Methodist school for, she had a passion for teaching.
During her early teenage years, the family would sit around the radio to listen to the local and international news, but it was the Voice of Prophecy program that caught her attention and pricked her interest in bible truths. Sooner than later, she began to send for the bible lessons which she diligently completed. She was convinced and convicted by the scriptures that Saturday was the Sabbath and later confronted her Priest, Father Eve at the Enmore Anglican Church, and enquired which was the Bible Sabbath, Day of Worship and he confirmed to her that Saturday was the Bible Day of Worship. Uranie quickly sought permission from her father to attend the small Seventh-Day Adventist Church in the village. In 1965 she was baptized and became actively involved in studying the bible and the newfound Truths. She eagerly shared with her siblings, friends, and colleagues. She aspired to live Christ in every facet of her life, that remained true to the end of her days.
In the Summer of Life:
Uranie, soon transitioned to work with the SDA School system at Berbice and Wismar McKenzie.
