

Verne William Hill, age 92, passed away on Tuesday, December 14, 2021. Beloved husband of Mary for 65 years. Father to David, Peter (Marilyn), Steven (d. 2008) (Monica) and Susan. Grandfather to Emma, Adrian, Samantha (partner David Twigger), Jessica, Jacob (partner Ryan Siciliano), Andrew (partner Emma Rousseau), Julia, Shawn and Shannon. Great grandfather to Avery William and Sutton Verne. He will be missed by many more family and friends.
Verne was an active member at St. Peter's Anglican Church for over 60 years and during his working years had a position with Ontario Hydro for over 40 years.
Singing was a big part of his life. As a barbershop singer he was active in St. Peter's Choral and Scarborough Gilbert and Sullivan Societies for many years as well as Serenata Singers later on.
He headlined at the Pine Lake concert hall for many summer mornings during his morning swim serenading the lake to renditions of "Oh What a Beautiful Morning" and "It's a Lovely Day Today" that many lake residents now know by heart.
A visitation for Verne will be held Sunday, December 19, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Jerrett Funeral Homes, 660 Kennedy Road, Toronto, ON M1K2B5. A funeral service will occur Monday, December 20, 2021 at 11 AM at 660 Kennedy Road, Toronto, ON M1K2B5. A burial will follow at Pine Hills Cemetery, 625 Birchmount Rd, Scarborough, ON M1K1R1.
Please know that all guests to the Funeral Home must present proof of double vaccination against the COVID-19 virus, along with a piece of government issued identification. Those who do not provide these items will not be permitted to enter the Funeral Home. Masks are required.
In lieu of flowers for those who wish donations may be made in Verne's memory to a charity of your choice.
