Bill was predeceased by his wife of 56 years Miriam Bates and his grandson David Bates. He enjoyed a long and relatively healthy life until the last two years. He had many happy memories of growing up in Toronto, a 36 year career as a pilot at TransCanada Airlines / Air Canada. Bill was a man who gave a steady support to those around him, helping young people with positive advice and needed assistance. He was a marvellous caregiver for his parents and wife during their final illnesses.
