Mr. Chin, I never got to say bye personally, but may that's the way God wanted it to be.  I love you, thanks for Johnnie, thanks for my two children, your grandchildren:  Dajohn and Tianna. Grampa Chin, we will never forget all the countless hours we spent at your beautiful home(fortress) overlooking Montego Bay, the elaborate dinners fit for a king, the dogs, talking about slot machines, picking of fresh fruit from the many trees on the hill and the Red Tomato. Sir Wil: You will most certainly be missed, by me and by my family. 
I have had the fortune of knowing you and your family for the past 44 years.  You have been my extended family. You treated me with the same love and kindness, that you showed to your own children.  I will miss you.

Dear Peter, Pauline and all family members, we wish to express our deepest sympathy on the loss of your beloved father.  He must be so proud that he helped to raise such loving, caring,compassionate and successful children.  Great job Mr. Chin, your rest is now so very well deserved.

I had the honour and privilege of looking after Wilson Chin.  Wilson was born in Jamaica   and his family name was Chin.  No surprise there.  His father wanted him to learn Chinese so he was sent back to China just in time to be there for the Sino-Japanese War.

Wilson lived to the ripe old age of 88.  He was truly blessed by God, because his life could have ended much earlier when he was a teenager.

Wilson was active in the war against Japanese aggression.  He was recruited by the Chinese army to smuggle pharmaceutical products from Indochina to China during the war to help with the war effort.  On one of these expeditions, Wilson was surrounded by Japanese soldiers in the forest, so he lay on the ground and hid in the bushes.  He stayed there all night and tried to wait it out.  Problem was when he got up the following morning, he was spotted by a Japanese soldier who pressed a bayonet into his back.  

He was taken to a prisoner of war camp and tied to a bamboo stake.   The problem was the Japanese took no prisoners.  They executed Chinese soldiers 100 percent of the time. The Japanese soldiers were cruel and the head of the camp came up to him and said that they would execute him at noon.

One recent fond memory I have of Mr Chin is from Christmas 2011. Doug was putting the finishing touches on the turkey and I was sous-chefing. Mr Chin quietly stepped in to do some tasting and provide advice, which we of course took. Photo attached is of Victoria with her two grandads that same evening. RIP Mr. Chin. -- Margaret
